The Destruction of Pompeii and the Eruption of Mount Vesuvius

Introduction

Standing at 4203 feet tallest he is dangerous he is deadly he is marvelous and thing of legends!

Today you will learn all about an Italian marvel!

 

His most well known destruction, not to mention his first acknowledgement from the public was in 79 A.D.

 This legend has become a world reknowned historian by creating a snapshot of the times in a little town known worldwide as Pompeii.

 

Task

Welcome fellow students, you're here today to work as a team. As everybody knows Mount Vesuvius was one of the massive volcanoes and the destruction of Pompeii. All students will work as a team to reach their task goal.

I will randomly choose team leaders by name and split you into groups of 4

1.You will work together as a team to find out the task goals

2.The team leader will assign each student to have a different goal in the end

3.You will then come back together to share your answers and come up with a group answer

  • Answers need to be at least four sentences long.
  • Answers need to be clear and precise
  • Work together to find the best possible outcome

In the end, one answer from everyone in the team will shared to the class.

Question 1: Pompeii was destroyed because of the eruption of a volcano. Which one?

Question 2: What was Pompeii liked before the volcano erupted? How far was Vesuvius from Pompeii?

Question 3: In what year did the destruction of Pompeii happen? Some people did manage to escape from Pompeii but many did not, how many people are estimated to have been killed? 

Question 4: Pompeii wasn't the only city destroyed. What was the name of the other city?

Question 5: The remains of Pompeii were first uncovered in 1599,  by people digging out a channel. What did they discovered?

Conclusion

In conclusion the destruction of Pompeii was one of unique and massive proportions. The name Pompeii is one usually associated with the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, and is one of the most infamous eruptions to have occurred!

Despite the infamy, much can be taken away from what has occurred and much of the information gathered on the destruction of Pompeii has surely bolstered our knowledge about volcanoes as a whole to what it is today. Vesuvius is a volcano of legend in a lot of ways, and much of it's features is surely impressive in terms of standards of other volcanoes.

It showcases destructive beauty, mainly from the strength of nature, but still can amaze many with it's breathtaking view and the ruins it has created! It is impressive in nature and serves as a benchmark of volcano safety from then on in terms of places being built and where life is cultivated. The ruins still stand as a reminder of that day along with the lovely view of Mount Vesuvius!
