Introduction
Connecticut looked very different a long time ago. This activity will look at the changes that happened from then until now (as well as what is currently happening). About 200 million years after this collision and the formation of Pangea, the Atlantic Ocean floor started spreading and great forces were experienced, resulting in Connecticut’s Eastern Border fault. As a result, the land west of this fault created a rift valley.
Task
You and your group will read articles to investigate how Connecticut got it's shape.
Process
Please look at these articles. Divide them up between your group so each person has something to use as a reference. Try to identify some "big ideas" from the information to share with your group. Remember to make connections to what you already know about how the Earth changes.
Then have a discussion and share those "big ideas. Create a list of similar ideas/reasons that explain why Connecticut looks the way it does.
