Civil War Project

Introduction

Hello fellow Sixth Grader! Welcome to this WebQuest! The following project is going to be a Social Studies test grade, so do your best! Here's a hint:

Task

In order to complete this asssignment, you have to choose one of the five topics below dealing with the Civil War. After you've picked your topic, you're going to create a Diorama of it. If your not sure what a Diorama is, it is a model representing a scene with three-dimensional figures. Be Creative! With each topic there is a link provided where you can gather some extra information. This project is due February 4, 2015.

Civil War Topics:

The Lincoln-Douglass Debates

Abraham Lincoln's Assassination

The Underground Railroad

A Slave Plaintation

General Lee’s surrender at Appomattox to General Grant

Process

Step 1: Decide on a Scale. Decide on how big or small you want your Diorama to be.

Step 2: Choose a container, such as a shoebox, that will function as your Diorama.

Step 3: Collect all of your materials. You might want to get some different human or animal figures, trees, or even some dollhouse furniture.

Step 4: Decide on a background for your Diorama. You can use some wallpaper or even print out different images.

Step 5: Construct your Diorama working from the back to the front. Start with the interior sides of the Diorama, the floor and the walls, and work your way to the front. Place the larger objects in the back and the smaller objects in the front.

Step 6: Take notes on index cards and be ready to present your project to the whole class clearly and professionally.

Evaluation

You will be graded on your diorama as followed:

Conclusion

You've made it! You've hopefully completed your project! I hope you learned some things from completing this project that you didn't know before.
