Introduction
Reading your favorite book can help take the stress off of you from other homework and school related things. With this Elements of a story project, students will be able to use their favorite books to find all of the elements (characters, plot, climax, etc.) and create a project out of them!
Task
Students will first pick out their favorite book from the library or bring it from home. Once they have freshened up their memory of the story, they will be given a plot diagram and worksheet to fill out all the elements of their story. Once they have completed their worksheets, they will have access to the computer lap or chrome books in the classroom to work on creating a power point presentation to put all of their material on to present to the class.
Process
Step 1:
-Students will bring their favorite book from home or have access to the school library to pick one out.
Step 2:
-Students will then have one week to read their book to start recognizing all of the elements of that story
Step3:
- After students have finished reading their books they will be given a worksheet and a plot diagram to fill out to keep track of all their information of the elements and other notes of the story
Step 4:
-Once their worksheets have been filled out completely students will have access to the library computers to start working on their Google Slide presentation.
Step 5:
- After all students have completed their power points they will be chosen at random to present their information to the class.
Evaluation
Students will be graded on the following:
-Did the student fill out both their worksheet and plot diagram completely?
-Was all of the elements from the worksheets on their presentation?
-Did the presentation have any pictures, color, animation, or anything to make it exciting?

Now that your projects are done, you now know how many things go into making a story and how all of those elements must fit together to make the story flow and be fun and pleasing to read.
Next time you're reading any story think about those elements and maybe take clues for what they could be foreshadowing or what message they are trying to get across to you, the reader.
