Endurance

Introduction

Endurance, a novel by Alfred Lansing, tells and describes the journey of explorer Ernest Shackleton and his 27 crew members across the South Atlantic sea.  Shackleton and his crew members set sail the Endurance in August 1914 and faced many threatening obstacles before returning from their journey in August 1916.

Conclusion

Shackleton was known for leadership and his heroism.  After he passed away on his final expedition, the Quest, he was buried at South Georgia Island.  He and his expeditions recently have been a major topic in historical research.  In 2011, a biscuit Shackleton gave to a starving traveler on one of his early expeditions was sold for $2,000.
