EN4HOSTS - Attractive tourist destinations in Europe

Introduction

This WebQuest is designed to be completed in three to four (3-4) classes. However, there is considerable flexibility in the way of delivery.

There are stories in Europe that you have never heard of and places worth visiting. From historical monuments in the cradle of European civilization in Italy or Greece, to the architecture of the medieval world present in Britain and Central Europe, to Catalan and German modernism, Europe is thriving with notable tourist attractions, which are binding destinations for untrained tourists.

The offer of basic and additional tourist services is extremely diversified at present. Of all the services that give the contents of the tourist product, indispensable is the recreational service (to which the treatment services and other interest, which motivate the trips) are indispensable, in the absence of which the other three categories (accommodation, food, transport) would not be defined as tourism.

Task

Each group will identify an attractive tourist destination in Europe and will produce an information and promotion flyer to help you convince the audience that the destination you chose is the most attractive.

It is important to identify those elements that define the attractiveness of the tourist destination and differentiate it from the other, the type of tourists it is addressed to.

The flyer will be evaluated by a team of three people (the teacher, a representative of a travel agency and a student).

Enjoy the virtual trip !!!!!

Process

Process 1

In this webquest, you and your group (4 students) will analyse attractive tourist destinations in Europe, you will see the basic service offer and additional service offers, and you will eventually make an information and promotion flyer for a destination of your choice.

You need to look for information about:

 country of destination,

 location,

 access ways and means of transport,

 natural and anthropic tourist objectives,

 accommodation and food establishments,

 leisure opportunities.

Be sure you can clearly articulate why you have chosen your selected destination. What specific things you plan to have people do which are unique to your chosen location? Why is your destination special and what kind of tourists would want to travel there?

Now that you have completed all the components of process one, proceed to process two!

Process 2

Choose from the types of flyers outlined below.

Editing instructions for the flyer:

There are many types of flyers, of different sizes and shapes. Two things that all these flyers have in common: they are distributed for free and they are a form of direct marketing. An advertising flyer is either shared on the street, or distributed with products or other promotional materials, or handed over to the customer when visiting the travel agency, mailed, etc. and, when doing so, the following conditions must be met:

a) the size of the booklet - it is made in small format 21 x 10.5;

b) the title on the flyer is never placed in the middle;

c) there must be clues (even brief) on the location of the tourist objective - for example, a map;

d) photos must present the offer (e.g. hotel services);

e) photographs must be made in bright spaces, which gives the feeling of openness, space, hope;

f) the principle of photograph animation - the presence of people in photos (in the position of clients);

g) photography is used by "specialized actors"; they adopt a lot better natural behaviors and, thanks to the job, do not get tired quickly, refuse to be photographed (customers may not want to be photographed) and agree to be directed by photographers.

The lists of leaflet models are long, but the most commonly used are:

 Tri fold flyer

 Gate fold flyer

 Leaflet/pamphlet

Conclusion

Today we live in a world full of flyers, leaflets, brochures, posters and banners. They fill our mailbox, sneak under the door or on the windshield of the car, gather on the desk or smile in the hands of some pretty girls in intersections, shops, shopping centers, fairs, etc. You find them - or better said, they find you- everywhere, so you often do not even pay attention.

These creative materials fulfill various roles:

- attract new customers;

- promote and sell the product;

- increase market share;

- differentiate the company and the product from its competitors.

Successful advertising creation means:

- creativity

- visual impact;

- uniqueness

- differentiation and highlighting;

- copywriting

- transmission of the advertised message;

- experience

- modeling and translating the concept of advertising.
