EN4HOSTS- Easter holidays in Greece

Introduction

One of the greatest celebrations of Christianity religious festivals with deeply rooted customs and centuries-old traditions in Greece is Easter.

Our task to this WebQuest is to take a deeper insight into ancient-old rituals and traditions including food preparations and customs that remain an important part of Greek Easter life.

Task

Your task is:

1. To analyze and describe the whole Easter celebration in Greece, not just the Easter Sunday ceremony.

2. To create an e-cookbook with Easter recipes

3. To write an article about Easter destinations in Greece, including their customs that make them so unique.

Process

Step 1

Students in groups of 3 start work together using the following instructions:  

A) Research traditions and customs that take part during the whole Easter celebration in Greece using the internet. Pay attention to the following links:

B) Prepare a presentation using Powerpoint or Prezzi (Worksheet1) and present it to your classmates trying to make them decide it's worth to visit Greece at Easter. Do not forget to give information about:

- What can they do during the Easter period?

- Which traditional festivities, customs are held during the Easter period?

Step 2

Students will be divided into two new groups.

Students in group A will choose the recipes they like and then they will create an e-cooking book with them (Worksheet 3) via https://www.storyjumper.com/ .

Conclusion

This WebQuest is designed to develop the critical thinking skills in children. This web quest teaches students about Traditional Greek Easter. 

I hope you all had fun and explored our traditions, customs, food and unique spring destinations during Easter holidays. I hope this will help you feel how strong is our tradition, and maybe visit us an Easter!
