Introduction

Today's tourist is much better informed, more refined, demanding and selective, often having an international tourist experience. He expects high-quality services, equipment and attractions, comparing services with previous consumption requirements.Success in the tourism industry is driven by a permanent connection to industry news. Whether you already have experience in the field, you need to keep up-to-date.

In this webquest we will learn about:

  • Purpose of permanent connection to the information environment
  • Advantages of permanent connection to the information environment: for customers (tourists), for business, for tourism employees
  • Categories of information needed for hospitality industry employees
  • Information sources that can be used by the hospitality industry staff
Task

Your task for this webquest is to find out exactly what hospitality industry is and what categories of information are needed for employees in the hospitality industry. You and your group (three students total) will become "experts" in the hospitality industry and you will find things that different employees of the hospitality industry need to know:

- the concierge worker,

- the receptionist,

- the chef,

- the waiter.

 

You will then compile a booklet on Hospitality Industry which will contain information on:

- Hospitality industry. What is it?

- Categories of information useful to the concierge worker

- Categories of information useful to the receptionist

- Categories of useful information for the chef

- Categories of information useful to the waiter

- Advantages of permanent connection to the information environment

- Information sources

Process

Using the knowledge that you have gained in process one, it is now your job as a group to write at least a one page double spaced conclusion to “Permanent information, the condition of success in the hospitality industry”. The components of this response are as follows.

 

  • Give the definition of Hospitality industry.
  • Name the categories of staff working in the hospitality industry.
  • Highlight the benefits of a permanent connection to the informational environment of those working in the hospitality industry.
