Process

Step 1:

There is a Youtube link attached below that you have to access. It defines the meaning of poetry and poetry terms. With the definitions given in the video, you are to explain the following poetry elements in your own words.

Elements: structure, line, metaphor, stanza, imagery, theme

Step 2:

After defining the terms, think of at least 5 words that comes to mind when you hear the words "old age"

Write the 5 words in your English notebook and add a reason why you chose the 5 specific words. This will assist you when completing the activity in step 4.

Step 3:

Before completing the activity in step 4, you are to listen to an audio of the poem "on aging". Take note of the manner by which the poem is read out.

Also, keep in mind the poem terms you described using your own words in step 1.

Step 4:

In this step you need to compile a creative writing piece using your own words and some of the definitions you learnt from the video in step 1.

You are optimistic about your future and the impact you’ll make in another person’s life, what you will do after completing school and what you will achieve in the future.

Write a diary entry of 120-150 words to your future self. What you’d like to achieve and what you’d like to be remembered for.

  • You may use the 5 words you came up with in step 2.
  • A rubric will be provided for you in the evaluation process.

Good Luck!
