Community workers that provides essential services
Community workers provides us with goods and services. It is with these services it can be classified as essential where some community workers provide us with services that are extremely important and necessary. These services we cannot live without. They are called essential services. Providers of essential services include fire fighter, police officers, nurse, doctor, NWC workers and JPS workers. They are essential because they are on duty for twenty-four hours and if they go in strike, it will cause serious problems for the country. Some effects include outbreak of diseases, outbreak of crime and violence, lack of water and loss of electricity
The roles and ways we depend on the police officer
· keeping people safe
· enforce laws
· patrol the streets
· solve crimes
The roles and ways we depend on the fire fighter
· spend time out in the community raising awareness about one's safety
· conduct home fire safety checks
· communicate fire prevention and other safety measures
· making presentations and talks to educate the public
· visiting people's homes, schools, businesses and talking to residents about how they can plan to avoid and survive a fire if it occurs (smoke alarms, fire extinguishers etc).
The roles and ways we depend on the doctor
· listen to and assess patients’ healthcare needs with careful consideration of their personal and social circumstances
· apply their knowledge and skills to synthesise information from a variety of sources in order to reach the best available diagnosis and understanding of the patient’s problem, or to know what steps need to be taken to secure such an outcome;
· support patients in understanding their condition and what they might expect, including in those circumstances when patients present with symptoms that could have several causes;
· identify and advise on appropriate treatment options or preventive measures;
· explain and discuss the risks, benefits and uncertainties of various tests and treatments in a way that is understandable to patients;
· as much as possible support patients to make decisions about their own care.
