Fast Food nutritional value

Introduction

Fast Food Nutrional Value

Your group will need to investigate to discover how many calories a student your age should eat each day. Your search for these nutritional clues will begin as you determine how many calories a person your age and size should eat each day. You can find that information by using the calorie calculator website. You'll find a link to that site at the bottom of this page.

Now that you have investigated to find out how many calories a person your age can consume in one day, you will need to use your math skills to determine how many calories you can eat in your healthy meal.

Hint: Since you eat three basic meals each day, you need to do the following.....

Total daily calories allowed divided by 3 = calories allowed for one meal

Your group will need to choose 3 of the restaurants shown below. You will find a link for the restaurants at the bottom of this page.

Fast Food Restaurants to Investigate....

*Burger King

*McDonald's

*Long John Silver

*Substation

Your group will examine the nutritional information for each of these popular fast food restaurants. You will need to look at all of the items to choose a healthy (and delicious) meal option for a student your age. Remember that you will need to use the information you found in step three as a guideline for total calories for your meal. Be ready to use your math skills to complete this task:)

Use a graph to show your comparison.

*A powerpoint presentation with a slide for each restaurant your squad investigated.

*A series of posters about each restaurant's healthy meal option.

You will need to make sure that you include the nutritional information you discovered during your investigation in your final presentation. Remember, a good detective always uses facts to prove what he/she finds during an investigation.

Step 7: Your squad will need to work together as a group to present your information to the First Lady and a group of school children. Each detective on the squad will need to participate in the presentation.

Good luck on your investigation, detectives!!
