A Field trip I enjoyed

Introduction

Hello learners.

This week we are going to have a different kind of assignment. I know you are going to love this assignment since you will have the opportunity to share with your friends one of your favorite places but also learn more about the cities and countries where these places are also some interesting facts that make them great that you probably did not know.

I want you to think about one place you visited on a trip and loved it, remember how great, funny and interesting was that place for you because this could encourage your partners to visit it. Get all your memories ready to share with your friends your experience! Think about yourselves as a tour guide, have fun, and enjoy this activity.

Task

How to Make a Quiz in PowerPoint?

For this week's assignment, you will talk about a place you already visited, why you decided to go there and what important facts about that place you saw and learned also you will search for touristic information and the history of that place, important and interesting facts of the city where your favorite place to visit is.

By working on this assignment you will be able to use the grammar for the simple past tense and regular and irregular form of verbs in the simple past tense. You will also apply vocabulary for describing the environment and will learn about the history of a place and important facts of that city.

For this task you will need:

  • A computer or device
  • PowerPoint
  • Microsoft Word
  • Connection to the internet or visit your local library for researching information
  • A scream recording program

You will create a PowerPoint presentation of the place you chose and record your voice while you present your PowerPoint I recommend you to install and use this scream recording to make your presentation https://screencast-o-matic.com/screen-recorder. You can also use any scream recording you like or have.

Process

In order to help you to complete successfully this assignment read and follow carefully the following process.

Steps:

1.- Think on your favorite trips you have had, think and chose the most memorable and the one you most enjoyed.

2.- Research about interesting facts and the history of the place or city you visited. (this information could include things to do, weather, an important event that happened in that place, typical food, famous people born in that place, etc)

3.- Organize and write your thoughts about the interesting facts you found on a word page document.

4.- Create a detailed scrip of what you are going to tell us about your trip.

5.- Create a PowerPoint presentation about why that was you favorite trip display some places you visited, talk about the activities you did, what you ate, what you recommend to do, what was your favorite thing or part, how did you arrive there, what things you can do if you go alone and what things you can do if you go in a group you can also show your funny pictures of that trip also include on it at the end of the presentation a video of you talking for 2 or 3 minutes about the history of that place, some important facts and something you did not know about it)

6.- Narrate your PowerPoint using a scream recording.

7.- Upload to GoogleClasrrom your PowerPoint recording, scrip and word document with the information you found about the place you chose.

Conclusion

The assignment is a narrated PowerPoint presentation about your favorite trip with a short video of you at the end explaining some important facts you learned researching about the place you visited.

You will apply your knowledge about the simple past tense structure, regular & irregular verbs in the simple past tense and target vocabulary. 

Remember your friends will love watching your presentations since it will let them know more about you and your preferences what is your favorite place to visit and what makes that place special for you. This presentation will teach you and your partners about the history and interesting facts you found about that place. It also will give all of you a topic to talk with your friends and an opportunity to share your experiences on your adventures on your trips I also will love watching them and cannot wait for knowing which exciting places have you all visited and what fun activities I could do if I visit those places.

If you really enjoyed creating your slides, going deep in your memories, and remembering special and funny moments in your life I encourage you to create another presentation about another trip you have done and loved and share it with us, your friends, or family.

Students with no access to computers or the mentioned programs can do their assignments by recording a video of themselves while talking about their favorite trip, the places they visited and the activities they did. They will have to show pictures or drawings of those places and activities. Students will also have to talk for 2 or 3 minutes about the history or important facts of the city or place they visited, deliver the scrip, and the research they did on a piece of paper.

 

If you are working with younger students you could ask parents to record them talking about their favorite part or place of the house and what fun activities they do in that room or location then present those videos to the class and have the kids talking about they their partners' favorite places and what activities they love doing at home.
