Welcome: Fitness Trends for High School Students 

Description: This WebQuest enables students to gain knowledge surrounding current fitness/mindfulness trends, recommended amount of physical activity , benefits of regular physical activity/fitness, health-related fitness components, and Mindfulness. Students will use this knowledge to set goals and develop a fitness/mindfulness program that meets their individual needs. 

Mindfulness is an incredible tool to help people understand, tolerate, and deal with their emotions in healthy ways. ... Because mindfulness presents an effective method to get to know oneself, to reduce stress, and to live in the present moment, cultivating mindfulness is a powerful practice in therapy.

Regular exercise and physical activity promotes strong muscles and bones. It improves respiratory, cardiovascular health, and overall health. Staying active can also help you maintain a healthy weight, reduce your risk for type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and reduce your risk for some cancers.

If you are unable to physically participate in class today, you will be working towards gaining more information and knowledge surrounding mindfulness and fitness.  This will allow you to embark down a journey of mental, emotional, and physical health. You will be given resources needed to navigate and explore, in order to complete the given tasks. Namaste

After completing this WebQuest you will have researched mindfulness and fitness information in order to answers a series of questions, set goals, and develop your own fitness/mindfulness plan that meets your individual needs.  

 Learning Objectives:  "I will..."

Task 1 - Use the websites provided on the next page to gather information, which will help you to answer a series of questions. Please type your answers in google docs.

Task 2- Set 3 personal goals related to your personal mindfulness and fitness journey/plan. 

Task 3- Create a 2-3 week fitness plan which will enable you to progress towards reaching your personal goals.  Please submit all work through email or hard copy.

Please complete each step in order. After completing all of the steps, submit your work.  You can email your work or print out and hand in a hard copy.  Great Job! 


Step 1-  Use the file (Resources/Website and Questions) below to access the websites and questions.  Research the given websites available (and any others you may want to utilize on your own) and use these websites to answer the questions. Make sure you type your answers in complete sentences. Answer all questions below.  


Step 2-  Use the link below to access information regarding goal setting.  Use this information to set 3-4 specific goals related to your mindfulness and fitness that you would like to accomplish. You can set these goals for a later date, once you are medically cleared to participate in physical activity. 

Step 3- Use the links below as a resource/reference in order to create your own 2-3 week Mindfulness/Fitness Plan. Your plan must relate to the goals you have set for yourself. Please give a detailed description of each exercise, you can upload a photo or short video, or attach a link.

Congratulations! You have completed the given tasks and you should be very proud of yourself! You are creating a lifestyle that is healthy for your mind and body! Mindfulness practices can help us to increase our ability to regulate emotions, decrease stress, anxiety and depression. It can also help us to focus our attention, as well as to observe our thoughts and feelings without judgment. Regular exercise and physical activity promotes strong muscles and bones. It improves respiratory, cardiovascular health, and overall health. Staying active can also help you maintain a healthy weight, reduce your risk for type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and reduce your risk for some cancers. You should be proud of yourself, continue your your journey to a healthy everyday life style.

This WebQuest should be used for students who are medically excused from Physical Education.  It would count towards 1 Unit grade.
