Task

Students work in groups consisting of Polish and Italian students. They visit the websites provided and answer accompanying questions. Their task is to deliver answers as a group.

Process

Visit the website: https://www.sos-usa.org/about-us/where-we-work/africa/poverty-in-africa and:

 

  • list 6 reasons for poverty in Africa

  • list 4 indicators of Human Development Index (HDI)

  • find out how many people in Africa are considered malnourished

  • find out how many children aged 5-17 in sub-Saharan Africa have to go to work instead of attending school

  • find out how many Africans are infected with the HIV virus

  • how is poverty defined in rich countries

  • how many children live below their national poverty lines

  • how did the wealth gap between black and white families grow between 1992 and 2016
