Graphing Equations in Mrs. Baggett's Class

Introduction

Hello Students!!  Today you will complete a task that demonstrates your understanding of graphing linear equations!!  Hope you enjoy your quest to prove your mastery of standard MGSE.8.EE.1.

Task

You will be completing a WebQuest to demonstrate your understanding of how to graph linear equations from both standard and slope-intercept form.

Steps to completing Graphing Linear Equations in Mrs. Baggett's Class:

1)  Retrieve a Student Record Sheet (paper with 10 blank graphs!)

2)  Collect ipad if one is not on your desk (or battery is dead!)

3) Complete your WebQuest as instructed.

4) Submit your finished task (Student Record Sheet) into your class basket for grading!

Process

WebQuest Instructions:

1) Convert each of the following equations to their graph on the Student Record Sheet.

2)  Make sure that you write the equation in the space provided above the graph.

3)  Determine the slope (m) and the y-intercept, then record these values on Student Record Sheet in the space provided.

4)  If you have to convert your equation from standard to slope-intercept, make sure you show all of your work neatly in the blank space provided on the back of the Student Record Sheet!!

5) After you have created your linear graph of the equation, feel free to trace the linear graphs with any colored writing tools!!!

6)  When complete, please submit your Student Record Sheet into the basket!!

Graphing Equations in Mrs. Baggett’s Class

1)  y = 2/3x + 1                               2) y = -3/5x – 7

3)  y = -5x + 4                                 4)  y = x + 2

5)  y = -4x                                       6)  y = 3

7)  x – y = -2                                   8)  3x + y = -4

9)  x – 5y = 10                               10)  2x + y = -1

Evaluation

You will be assessed on your accuracy to convert linear equations to their linear graphs!!

Conclusion

Your effort to model your master of the standard MGSE.8.EE.1 is noticable!!  However, if you remain confused or unclear on how to perform this standard properly, please see me today to schedule a time for remediation or extra help on this standard!!
