The process below will help you reach you goal of learning about coordinate planes. Do the steps in order without skipping any and without skipping over any website.
1. Start a journal entry where you will store all your data and what you learn and label it Coordinate Plane. This is where you will record data and what you have learned. You will also need to record different graphs. This will be turned into your teacher once you have completed the project.
2. Take a pre-quiz to see what you need to learn. Follow the link below and answer each question the best you can. Write ALL questions and answers in your journal. PRE-QUIZ
3. Review the coordinate plane and look up vocabulary associated with it. Below are links for you to find vocabulary. You will need to write down ALL words and their definitions you are unfamiliar with.
Read about the Cartesian Plane in the below link.
The Cartesian Plane
Complete the four steps in the link below and write down anything you may learn.
Four Step Workout
4. Practice plotting and/or graphing ordered pairs on the coordinate plane.
Go to the website below and read about the Cartesian Plane and try to make it through all the levels.

Go to the website below to practice plotting and/or graphing. Do at least 15 plots.
Practice Plotting
5. Explore different data types. Use graph paper to graph random ordered pairs labeling each with the x and y coordinate. After you have graphed at least 10, connect each point. After you have done this answer the following questions on the back of your graph.
1. What do negatives do to your line?
2. What do positives do to your line?
3. What do fractions do to your line?
4. What do zeros do for both the x and y axes?
5. What does the m stand for in the formula y=mx+b?
6. What does the b stand for in the formula y=mx+b?
7. What does the x stand for in the formula y=mx+b?
8. How does changing x affect the graph?
9. How does changing y affect the graph?
10. What quadrant are most of your points located?
6. Explore resources given to you. The website and videos below will help you better understand the coordinate plane, points, axes, and lines. Take notes on what you learn in your journal.
Go to the below website and watch the video and read the notes on vertical lines, horizontal lines, slope, and y-intercept. Use the interactive tool to help you see how different lines look when they are written in a formula.
Lines, slope and y-intercept
Watch the two videos below to better understand how to graph on a coordinate plane. Take notes on what still confuses you or what you still have questions about.

7. Come up with something that will help you understand the coordinate plane whether it be rules, acronym, etc. Use websites and other sources you have used to write down 10 things you now know about coordinate planes.
The below website may help give you some ideas.
Information
8. Practice more problems graphing and/or plotting ordered pairs on the coordinate plane. Try graphing different lines and recognizing different lines. Once you have finished each activity, write a minimum of 3 sentences about what you learned in each activity.
The below website has additional videos and notes that may help you with graphing.

The below websites are different games you can play to help you with graphing.

Basketball
9. Discuss real world problems where a coordinate plane can be used to help figure out something.
Read the below articles and write down at least 7 interesting facts you learned.

Graphing of real world problems
10. Pass the quiz to know that you have learned all about the coordinate plane. After completing the quiz write at least 3 paragraphs about what you have learned or found interesting about coordinate planes and graphing. You will also need to answer the questions below in your paragraphs.
Quiz
- How well did you do on the quiz? Is this an accurate score of what you think you know about the Cartesian Coordinate Plane? Are there areas on the quiz that you know but did not get correct? What are they and why did you get them wrong?
- How much time did you spend learning? What grade would your overall project deserve? How did the websites, videos, and Graphing Exercises help your learning? Is there something that might have helped you learn better?
- What grade would you give yourself based on the amount of effort you put into this project? How hard did you work? Does your grade reflect how hard you tried?
