How To Create Laws

Introduction

In Ms. Landes fourth grade classroom we are currently learning about laws and rules that our government has put in place. Specifically, we are looking at what it take to change the rules and laws that are already in place.

We are focusing on standard: 4.C.PR.1 Describe the processes people use to change rules and laws.

Our learning target is: I can describe the process people use to change state laws.

Task

By the end of this activity you will be able to inform others about the process of appealing laws and rules that are in place.

You should be able to answer the following questions:

1. What is a law.

2. Who puts laws into place?

3. How does one change a law.

As you read the information in the links be sure to take notes. Type your answers to the questions in the google form (you can find it in google classroom) as you find them.

Process
Evaluation

You will be graded based on how thorough your answers are. I expect complete sentences and 2-3 sentence answers per question. Type your answers to the questions in the notes document.

I expect:

Length of each answer is to be 2-3 sentences.

One thing you did not know.

One question you still have.

Conclusion

The world we live in is only sustainable because of the laws that have been put into place by our government. Not all laws are equal, and not all laws are good and truly benefit the people, however that is why we have the ability to change them. The constitution allows for our government to change laws and rules when necessary so that the people do not get stuck with rules that do not apply.
