Get ready for an exciting adventure learning about the human body! 

This WebQuest will take you through many different websites and informational texts. You will need to use your computer & research skills that you have learned in 5th grade to navigate and complete successfully. 

 

Remember: 5th grade quality is expected!

Welcome: The Human Body 

Description: This WebQuest is designed for 5th grade students. Students will discover and learn about each body system and their functions. Students will also learn about how & why they need to take care of their bodies now. 

Grade Level: 3-5

Curriculum: English / Language Arts

Task

You have now entered the Mona Shores training program to become an "expert" in the body systems. 

 

You will be expected to research a specific body system with your group and present your findings to your classmates.

During your presentation you will need to create a poster, model, Power Point, skit, or another teacher approved creative project.

You will be completing a "Human Body" booklet as you learn about each body system. You will gather this information by using the WebQuest and group discussions with classmates.

Process
  1. First you will be assigned to an expert team of 3-4 students.
  2. Once you have your body system to research you will be given a body system booklet to complete on your system.
  3. You will work with your team to find information, functions, and location of all organs that belong to your system.
  4. You will use the WebQuest, magazines, and various books to collect your information.  (Material list can be found on the links below).
  5. After your information is collected and organized, you will need to create a poster, Power Point, skit, etc, to present to your classmates.
  6. You will be assessed on the location and function of the organs in the 8 body systems. You will also need to organize a healthy living plan to take care of a certain body system for yourself or a friend of your age.

Focus: 
This WebQuest focuses on topics about the human body and the 8 organ systems. The objective of this is to help the students learn more about the human body and the importance to take care of it.  

Objectives: 
 

  • Students will learn the 8 body systems and their functions.
  • Students will be able to distinguish what a healthy lifestyle looks like.
