Intro To Graphic Design

Introduction

Graphic Design is everywhere.  We see graphic design in magazines, advertisements, product packaging, web design and many other places.  Graphic designers may use typography, symbols, shapes, images and other elements and principles of design to create visual representation of ideas and messages.  Explore the Graphic Design career through this Webquest

Task

Your task will be to research background information about being a Graphic Designer. You will be answering guided questions to help you with your research. When your research is complete, you will create an individualized logo for Ember's new temperature control coffee mug, applying the principles of a Graphic Designer

Process

Day 1 – Research

1. Go to the following sites and answer the following questions about the Graphic Design career in your own words, and in COMPLETE SENTENCES. Please type your answers on the Google Doc attached to this webquest in Google Classroom.

Day 2 - Create

As a Graphic Designer, you are to create a logo for the Ember Temperature Control Mug. Go to the following website to view the mug and where your design will be placed.

Be sure to view all of the photos of the mug from all different viewpoints.  When you have seen the mug from multiple different angles and you have an idea for where your logo will be placed, close the website.

 

Now that you have seen the mug and where your logo design will be located, you will use a clean sheet of paper to design the mug with its new logo. This logo will be graded on creativity, organization, and neatness.

Conclusion

Now that you know more about the Graphic Design career, put that new knowledge to use as you create your designs in class.  Become a Graphic Designer while you create a logo for a coffee mug  Your designs will be submitted to a team of designers at Ember, to be reviewed.  One design will be chosen by that team and printed as a reward for the best design!  Good luck!
