THE JOBS

Introduction

First of all, we would like to affirm that we have designed a English lesson about the jobs for students of the four degree of Primary Education. That lesson consists in some activities about jobs because we have thought that it is really important to learn that topic to our pupils because, in that age, they begin to ask themselves questions about what they want to be when they grow up and what their parents’ jobs consist... For this reason, it is necessary to answer these questions and help them to discover what is most interesting and motivating because it is a topic closely linked to real life and its closest environment.That lesson consists in some activities about jobs because we have thought that it is really important to learn that topic to our pupils because, in that age, they begin to ask themselves questions about what they want to be when they grow up and what their parents’ jobs consist... Task

Activity 2: ’’ Guess the riddle ’’.

The teacher will propose to the children a series of riddles which they will have to solve. To do this, the teacher will divide them into their respective groups (as they are sitting at the tables) and begin to say the riddles out loud. The group that knows the answer to the riddle that the teacher has said, should raise their hand and say the answer out loud. The riddles that the teacher will propose to the children will be the following:

Riddle 1: ‘’ With a hose, helmet and ladder, I put out the fires and the bonfires ’’ (Answer: the firefighter).

Riddle 2: ''Everyday of the year I wake up very early to remove the waste and garbage from your neighborhood ’’ (Answer: the garbage can).

Riddle 3: ‘’ With pine wood, beech or walnut I build the furniture for your home ’’ (Answer: the carpenter).

Riddle 4: ‘’ I make walls, I lay foundations and to the scaffolding I go up happy ’’ (Answer: the bricklayer).

Riddle 5: ‘’ I prepare the ground and the seed I sow; always waiting that the sun and the rain arrive on time ’’ (Answer: the farmer).

 

Process

1) The teacher explain to the students the different jobs.

2) The teacher ask them questions about different jobs to know if they know to identify them.

3) The teacher read some riddles and students have to guess it.

In conclusion, our main objective with that lesson is to teach our students the different jobs  in the most playful way possible, promoting different skills, as well as active participation and constant motivation.
