Cell Cycle

Introduction

Cell cycle refers to the complete sequence of events involving interphase, cell division, (mitosis/meiosis), cell growth, cell aging and cell death.

1. Interphase

            - metabolic stage

            - no sign of cell division

            - cell prepare for cell division

     three phases:

G1 (Gap 1) or first growth stage - enzymes and raw materials are made ready for DNA replication.

S phase or synthesis stage - stage of DNA replication.

G2 ( Gap 2) or second growth stage - protein needed for aster and spindle are synthesized.

2. Cell Division

         three types of cell division:

Mitosis - effects are growth, repair of damaged tissues happen in body cells. it is a diploid cell.

Meiosis - happen in the sex cell such as egg cell and sperm cell, number of chromosomes are halved. it is a                                          haploid cell.
