THE JUNGLE BOOK

Introduction

The Jungle Book is a book full of stories about Mowgli, the human child brought up by wolves in the jungle, written by the English writer born in India, Rudyard Kipling.

The story deals with various themes about life.

Task

1) Vocabulary Words: Define in context (from the book!).

Law of the Jungle (pgs. 3, 8, ); man cub (pg.4); 

wolf pack  (pg. 5);  red flower (pg. 16); 

wood and water laws (pg. 28);  stranger's hunting call (pg. 28); 

cold lairs (pg. 39);  water truce (pg. 60)                   

fear (pg. 69); 

 

2) Individual Project: Create a poster about one of the animal characters from The Jungle Book.

The poster must be about an animal that you identify with, one whose personality is similar to yours. For example: Baloo - funny, caring, lovable;  Shera Khan: fighter, leader, strong.

 

 Look at all the animals in the story and find characteristics that define them.

Choose one animal and create a poster about him. The poster must include pictures (do not have to be cartoons), words that describe the animal and that you can find describe yourself, valid information that proves that the character does posess the specific traits. For example:

Shera Khan: fighter.

Tigers are strong animals. They weigh _______. They run at _______mph. They are muscular.

Do the same for each characteristic and include it in the poster.

Include a paragraph about general information on the specific animal.
