Introduction
The rain forest is a beautiful, large area. There are small plants and big plants. There are also all types of animals. Because it is such a huge place with a different variety of animals, science has organized the rain forest into levels and their are animals that belong to each level. In this lesson, you will learn the levels and the animals that go in each levels.
Task
Our lesson objective is "I am able to recognize the levels of the rain forest and identify the animals that live in the levels."
At the end of this lesson I have a couple of assignments for you to complete by Friday, due at the start of class.
First, I will want each student to fold a piece of construction paper "hot dog" style and the fold the piece of paper in half again "hamburger" style. This should give you 4 section, separated off by the creases made by your folds.
Second, I want each section labeled as each of the levels of the rain forest.
Thirdly, I want students to draw and label 3 types of animals that live in that level of the rain forest.
Lastly, do not forget to put your name on the back. You can turn it in anytime in the basket on my desk.
Process
I have created a prezi for you to use to help you identify the levels and animals in the rain forest. We have done prezis before in class so students do know how to navigate this.
Evaluation
Students can be graded 1 of four way.
Poor: Student only knew 1 of the levels of the rain forest and did not reach the minimum amount of examples for each level.
Fair: Student knew 2 of the levels and did not reach the minimum amount of examples on some of the levels.
Good: Students knew 3 of the levels of the rain forest and identified most of the examples for each level.
Excellent: Students knew all the levels of the rain forest and reached the maximum amount of examples for each level.
Conclusion
Awesome! You can now recognize the levels of the rain forest and identify the animals in each level.
