Introduction

After the civil war america entered a new age that saw new amendments,new policies,and new perspectives.In this web quest we will talk abouy amendment 13,14,and 15,reconstruction policies,and society after the civil war.

Task

Our task is to learn and share how reconstruction affected the future of america.

Process

The process we are using involves research and analysis of the reconstruction era in america.Think like a historian.

Evaluation

Reconstruction was the period that followed the american civil war.During this period attempts were made to redress the inequities of slavery and its political,social,and economic legacy and to solve the problems that arose from the readmission to the union of the 11 states that had seceded at or before the war.

 

Conclusion

13th Amendment-prohibited slavery anywhere in the U.S.(1865)

14th Amendment-people had rights if they was born in america.

15th Amendment-Gave all citizens the right to vote.

Freedmen's bureau-The Freedmen's Bureau, which established the Freedmen's Bureau in March 1865, was initiated by President Abraham Lincoln and was intended to last for one year after the end of the Civil War. The Freedmen's Bureau was an important agency of the early Reconstruction, assisting freedmen in the South.

Civil rights act of 1866-The Civil Rights Act of 1866  enacted April 9, 1866, is a United States federal law that was mainly intended to protect the civil rights of African-Americans, in the wake of the American Civil War. This legislation was enacted by Congress in 1865 but vetoed by President Andrew Johnson. In April 1866 Congress again passed the bill. Although Johnson again vetoed it, a two-thirds majority in each house overcame the veto and the bill ostensibly became law.

 Ku Klux Klan Act 1871-This act was signed into law on april @0,1871,by president ulysess s. grant.The act empowered the president to suspend the writ of habeas corpus to combat the Ku Klux Klan.This was the last of the three enforcement acts passed by congress.

Black Codes-Wanted white supremacy to continue.Was against the 13th amendment.Enacted immediately after american civil war.White rich people who were more educated.
