Introduction: This was created as a final project for the class Educational Technology and Assessment

This lesson is to help discover as much as possible about the ocean.  It is also to help with writing and reading skills as well as the use of technology.

Learners (Teacher): This lesson is for 2nd graders or any other elementary graded (with added difficulty for older grades) It involves science, language arts, and technology.  It also helps with oral skills and creativity and has a small part of math as part of it.

Learners need to know how to use the computer as well as PowerPoint.  They should know how to research and gather information.

The Process (Teacher):

1.First you’ll be assigned to a crew of 3 students.
2.Each student will be assigned a role
  • Navigator – the person who will guide the fact finding
  • The recorder – the person who will keep track of all the interesting facts
  • The picture taker – the person who will collect as many pictures of the interesting species found as possible
3.You will begin your journey by swimming through the world wide web to find as much cool stuff about the ocean and the things in the ocean as possible
4.The recorder should use their journal to keep track of the facts found
5.Next, you will use Microsoft PowerPoint to create a fact book.
6.Be sure to include pictures of your findings.
7.Present your slide show to the class
8.As a class we will vote on the most outrageous facts and the best pictures
9.That team wins the treasure chest!
10.The winning team will divide their treasure with the rest of the class in a way that seems fair 
Resources (Teacher):

What's needed to implement lesson:

•Computers with internet access
•Journals
•Microsoft PowerPoint
•Treasure chest –filled with candy and small toys for the winning team to divide among everyone

Teacher Script (Teacher):

The teacher just simply needs to help guide the student through the webquest.  It is pretty self explanatory.

Conclusion (Teacher):

This lesson should teach children about the ocean.  It should incorporate many aspects such as writing, reading, recording, oral, math, science, creativity, and technology.
