Dewey Decimal System Webquest

Introduction

The Dewey Decimal System is a system we use to classify & shelve books in libraries by first grouping them into 10 basic categories. When you have finished this Quest, you will know what the Dewey Decimal System is and you will say,

"Do we know Dewey?"

"Do we?"

"Dewey?"

"BOY, do we!!"

Task

The Tasks:

1. Learn the basic 10 Dewey categories.

2. Learn the difference between Non-Fiction and Fiction.

3. Learn what a call number is.

4. Learn how countries keep their numbers.

5. Learn the "Top to Bottom" & "Left to Right" rules.

6. Learn the "General to Specific" & "Drop Back" theories.

7. Apply your new knowledge in the creation of a multimedia presentation.

The steps you need to take to complete this assignment.

1. Read the entire process before starting.

2. Visit every page of every section in #1 Do We Really Know Dewey?

3. Complete the quiz on site #1. 

4. Visit as many of the other 8 web sites as you can to understand and remember the information in the Dewey Decimal System.

5. Complete the ativities in your Google Document for all 9 sites. 

6. Check out how you did in "Evaluation," and what you should have learned in "Conclusion."
