Introduction
This is an interactive way that students can learn about the different regions of Virginia, specifically the region they are researching. In developing their brochure, the students will become experts on the region they are creating the brochue for. They will include location, characteristics, and fun facts.
INTRODUCTION:
The Regions of Virginia have many beautiful parts to them. Unfortunately the only time we have to see them is on a vacation. What you are going to be asked to do is pretend that you are a travel publicist, someone who tries to get people to travel to their region. Your job is to convince would be travelers that they should spend thier next vacation time visiting your region. You will create and publish a brochure to encourage people to vacation in your region.
Task
Task
You are going to create a travel brochure that highlights the important characteristics of one of Virginia's five regions. Your goal is to gather as much information on your region as possible and try to persuade people to visit it on their next vacation. Make sure you take lots of notes to help persuade them to visit your region.
Process
PROCESS:
1) Mrs. White will choose your region.
2) After you have your region you will begin your research. Remember that you are trying to get people to visit your region for their next vacation.
3) Things to look for while researching:
-
Where is it located in the state
-
Description of the land.
-
What fun things are there to do in your region (Recreational activities)
-
Do you have any important or interesting landmarks? (Major cities or bodies of water)
-
What is made in your region? (Products)
-
Any photos of your region to get visitors to vacation there.
4) After you have compiled all of your data, you will then begin to put it together using Microsoft Publisher. Use the example given to you to help create your brochure.
You will be working on this project in teams. Remember there are other teams working on the same regions and your teams needs to be original.

You will be given two computer class periods to complete your research, stay focused!
After you have compiled all of your information you will have another class period to assemble your project using Microsoft Publisher.
The last part to your brochure will be a written paragraph persuading people to spend their next vacation in your region. Remember to include only great things about your region.
Evaluation
There is not Evaluation for this activity. This will be used for review!
Conclusion
