The history of pacemakers
You are about to become an expert on the evolution of pacemakers.
You need to:
• identify data sources
• gather, process and analyse information to outline the historical
development of pacemakers.
Answer the following Questions from your research
1. Describe the structure of a pacemaker.
2. Explain how and where a pacemaker is implanted. Can also include images
3. Explain the functions of a pacemaker.
4. Explain how a pacemaker can be adjusted without surgery.
5. Describe the materials pacemakers are made of and the properties of
the materials that make them suitable for implantation.
As you process and analyse information try to identify the technological
advances that have made development of pacemakers possible.
6. Draw a time line of the developments
