MY COMMUNITY WEBQUEST

Introduction

In the My Community WebQuest project, students will explore their diverse urban, suburban, or rural communities by researching their:

  • History
  • Demographic features
  • Geography
  • Government
  • Public services - community agencies
  • Attractions
  • and Miscellaneous information

With the information students gather on the web, they will create a brochure to attract people to live, work, and visit their community.

Overall, I believe you will find the My Community WebQuest to be an enriching exercise for students because it is a project-based learning activity that promotes problem-solving, and critical thinking.  Also, I believe that children will find this exercise to be FUN and ENGAGING because it allows them to be *creative*, interactive with their peers, and it is relevant to their everyday lives!

Task

The community brochure must include, but is not limited to the following information:

1. Cover

2. Brief History

3. Demographics

4. Geography

5. Government

7. Attractions

* Presentation is important! Remember that your brochure needs to attract people to the community of Corona, so include visual elements such as color, font, and pictures.  Grammar and spelling counts too!
