My Memorable Experiences

Introduction

Hi, students!

Do you remember what the most memorable event in your life is?

How do you feel when you remember it?

Sometimes we want to write our own memorable event, but we are confused about how to write it.

Don't worry, students! There is a type of text called Recount Text.

Recount Text

Recount text is a text to retell about an experience or event in the past to inform and entertain the readers.

Generic Structures

Recount text has three generic structures:

  • Orientation    : contains the background of the event, such as where and when the event happened.
  • Events           : contains the events experienced by the author in more detail.
  • Reorientation : contains the conclusion, message, or impression of the author after experiencing the event.

Language Features

  1. Using simple past tense       : subject + verb 2, for example, "I had an interesting experience." And also subject + be + complement, for example, "It was a very unforgettable moment."
  2. Using adverb of time             : used to show the past, for example, when I was in... ; yesterday; last month; last year; and two years ago.
  3. Using adverb of sequence    : used to order the event, for example, in the beginning; after a while; then; and finally.
