Introduction
Have you ever wondered why you slide forward in a car when the driver slams on the brakes? Or how a massive racket launches into outer space? You are about to step into the shoes of a Junior Physics Investigator. Your mission is to explore how forces and motion govern everyday life, sports, and space travel.

Task
Working in pairs or individually, you will:
- Complete a digital research sheet by answering guiding questions on the three laws of motion.
- Choose one real world scenario (e.g., car crash safety, a sports slap shot, or a rocket launch) and create a 3-slide digital presentation or infographic explaining which of Newton's laws are at play.
Process
Step 1: Newton's First Law (Inertia)
- Define inertia in your own words.
- Why does heavier object have more inertia than a lighter object? Give an everyday example (hint: think of a soccer ball versus a freight train).
- Guiding Question: What happens to passengers inside a moving car when it hits a brick wall, and how do seatbelts protect them?
Step 2: Newton's Second Law (F=ma)
- Write out the formula for Newton's Second Law and define each variable (F, m, and a).
- If you double the force applied to an object while keeping the mass the same, what happens to the acceleration?
Step 3: Newton's Third Law (Action and Reaction)
- State Newton's Third Law.
- Explain how a balloon or a space rocket uses action-reaction pairs to lift off the ground.

Conclusion
By competing this WebQuest, you have discovered that physics isn't just numbers in a textbook-it is the invisible rulebook of how the physical universe moves. Think about how many times today you will experience Newton's laws in action!

This WebQuest will study Newton's Three Laws of Motion. The students will research and create a project that demonstrates their knowledge on this concept.
Topic: Newton's Laws of Motion
Grade level: Grade 8 Physical Science Students
Core Objectives: Students explore Newton's three laws of motion via digital resources and simulations, culminating in a presentation or demonstration project.
Resources: The following items will be needed to complete this WebQuest
- Computer-As all of this is involving the internet and slideshow software, a computer is a must.
- Internet-This is needed to visit the different sites required to make this WebQuest functional.
- Video camera- To be used if the group chooses to create a video example of Newton's Three Laws of Motion.
- Productivity Suite- (Microsoft Office, OpenOffice, Google Docs, etc...) to create slideshow.
