ALIENS IN MURCIA!

Introduction

ALIENS ARE COMING TO TOWN!

 

They need information about Murcia so they can help us live better.

You will show them Murcia's main characteristics: its 12 regions, main towns, mountains, rivers...

One more thing:

They love castles! Find a nice castle for them to live in.

You will also help them design their own heraldry.

   1.Make a scale model of Murcia showing:

          *Regions (comarcas).

          *Mountain ranges and highest peaks.

          *Rivers.

          *Castles.

   2.Answer the aliens' questions in a recorded interview about Murcia.

   3.Help them design their own heraldry.

Process

STEP 1

a) Make a survey: Ask 3 people about the names of the regions in Murcia they remember.



   IMPORTANT: In Spanish, regions of Murcia = Comarcas de la Región de Murcia.





b) Discuss their answers in class: do you think people know a lot about the "comarcas" in Murcia?





c) Find information on the website https://murcia.swred.com/lmdm_municipios.htm





d) Write down the names of the different regions in the 1st map (your teacher will give you a map). Draw and colour the flag of Murcia.







e) Place the following towns in the map: Jumilla, Yecla, Moratalla, Caravaca, Cieza, Lorca, Mula, Cartagena, Murcia y Totana.

a) Find information about mountains and rivers in Murcia on the website atlas de murcia





b) Label the main mountain ranges and highest peaks in the 2nd map (your teacher will give you a map). Which peak is the closest to Mula? Colour it red. Have you ever been to one of these mountains before? Which one?

STEP 3

 

a) Make a scale model of Murcia showing all the information you found in Step 1 and 2. First, you need to make a list with all the materials you will need....use your imagination and be creative!

b) Find information about the most important castles in Murcia and place them in your scale model. You can visit these websites:

c) Design a heraldry for the aliens. It has to be big and colourful.

 

 

 

STEP 4

 

a) An alien will interview you asking questions about Murcia. Who is going to be the alien in your group?

 

b) Prepare the questions and the answers with your group.

 

c) Record the interview with a video camera, phone, etc. At the end of the interview you will show them the heraldry you designed in Step 3.

 ATTENTION:

This is a real interview so you need to dress up like aliens!!  Don't speak too low. All your classmates will watch your interview.
