Today you will begin exploring three of the world's major religions:
Judaism, Christanity and Islam.
You will use this webquest to aid your research.

Task
Your task is to gather information about the following Abrahamic religions: Judaism, Christianity and Islam. You will conduct research aided by the links provided on this Quest. Feel free to supplement with your classroom library bin. It, too, has valuable information. Page numbers for each of the related text sections are provided on the Teacher's Page.
Upon the completion of your research you should be able to provide the following informaiton about all three religions:
- Beginnings:When did it begin? Where did it begin? Who did it start with? How did it spread?
- Supreme Being: Who is the supreme being of each? What are they called?
- Sacred Book: What is the name of the holy text?
- Religions Practice/Worship: What are some unique practices to each religion? How do they each worship God?)
- Holiday/Holy Days: What are some recongized holidays and/ or holy days for each rellgion?
- Place of Worship: Where do members of each religion meet or congregate to worship?
- Symbols: What symbols are associated with each religion?
Process
Using the Task page as a guide, start to preview the materials that is availiabe to you. You will be provided with a sheet for taking notes and organizing your information. As you find the items that are part of your Quest, document your findings.
You will notice that all three religions are monothestic. You will want to include this in your information.
The information on the Task page can be presented in a variety of formats:
1. You may submit your information in written form.
2. A rewritten copy of the organizational chart itself may be submitted. Your work must be neat. You may submit the organizational chart electronically. It is saved on the Teachers page as a Word document. You can enter your information and send it electronically using the email icon on this WebQuest.
3. You may sumit a PowerPoint presentation of the information covered on the organizational chart. You may change the format, but the information must include the topics listed on the task pate. This, too would be sumitted through this site's email.
Evaluation
You will be evaluated on three content items and one performance item:
- The information you gather as outlined on the Task page.
- The two questions you answered are listed on the Conclusion page.
- Your visual depiction of the similarities and differences of the religions.
- Your attention to your task and appropriate behaviour during time in the computer labs.
Conclusion
Now that you have completed your study of the three major world religions, you should be able to answer the following questions orally.
- Why is it important to study other religions?
- What did you find most intresting about your study?
