Introduction
The First Thanksgiving

When the Pilgrims and Native Americans met for an autumn harvest at Plymouth in November of 1621 there were some differences in the foods eaten at that time than what we eat today. In fact the main course that was served in the harvest was in fact not turkey like we eat today. Aside from some differences from the first harvest to present day, most food items remained similar and held their traditional value.
Task
Today you will be creating a menu that you would give to someone that would attend you Thanksgiving Harvest. You will be given full control to list the foods you wish to have at the harvest.
After creating your very own menu and presenting it to the class we will be learning what types of foods were brought to the harvest at the very first Thanksgiving. We will also be comparing these foods to what we eat today on Thanksgiving.
Dinner Is Served

Process
Step by step process:
First you will need to start by brainstorming some ideas to put on our menus (Write these ideas on a separate sheet of paper)
Second you will choose what food items you want on our menu and begin adding them to the menu.
Third you will double check your menu to make sure you have put everything on the menu that is needed for a delicious meal.
Fourth, everyone will decorate their menus to make them look extra yummy. (Hint: Use markers and colored pencils to draw pictures of the food items.)
Also, think of the different food groups and the foods that you had at your harvest this past Thanksgiving!!
Finally, you will present your menu to the rest of the class. Make sure to describe the any art that was included onto the menu.
The following are examples to get your brain thinking
Fruits
Vegetables
Main Meal (Turkey, ham, chicken, fish etc.)
Desserts
