Types of Cells

Introduction

Did you know that we call the smallest unit of life a cell?

Cells are the  basic unit of life and Robert Hooke was the first to use the word cell for structures in living organisms.

As we realize that there are lots of living things with different structures we will also realize that there are cells with different types.

In this presentation you will learn types of cells, their functions and structures. If you are ready, let's begin!!

All living cells on this planet belong to one of two groups, they either going to be a eukaryotic organism or a prokaryotic organism.

All cells have a:

- Plasma membrane

- DNA

- Ribosomes that make protein. These are the similarities between Eukaryotes and Prokaryotes.

Now, let's talk about the differences between these two major types of cells!

Let's start with prokaryotes:

- They have no nucleus

- No membrane bound organelles

- Unicellular

-Genetic information is in cytoplasm (in the structure called plasmid.)

On the other hand, eukaryotes:

- Have nucleus and membrane bound organelles

- DNA is in the nucleus

- Highly specialized cells

- Can be unicellular or multicellular

Task

Before you read you should watch videos about Prokaryotic and Eukaryotic cells. You can also make some research about them and animal and plant cells. Then look at my 'Evalution' part!!!

Finally, take the test in the conclusion part, you are guaranteed by me that you will have lots of fun. Now you are ready to see the next part.

In this experiment, you will learn eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells.

You should learn how to draw a structure and label them.

You should learn organalles functions too.   So, its your task to learn them and try to draw and label the structures which are given. Try to draw them like in the book. Watch the videos, they will help you to understand the topic better.

Good luck

Process

*If you are asked to draw a procaryotic cell, here is a guide for you.

how to draw prokaryotes

*Since you learned how to draw a prokaryotic cell, you are ready to learn the functions of the components in prokaryotes. To learn the functions, lets watch the video below.

Now, you know everything about prokaryotes that you need to know. It is time to learn about eukaryotes now. It's more complex than prokaryotic cell structure but do not worry, you will understand it easily when you watch the video.
