Congratulations!  You've been hired to head a special committee.   There are five major religions in the world, and many definitions for the word "religion".  There are both similarities and differences in each one of the the world's major religions.  Your quest is to explore these religions in order to find what they all have in common and the differences that exist.  

Task

As the head of the special committee, you will research one of the world's major religions that will be assigned to you.  You will then meet with your sub-committee members  and compare and contrast your findings.

You have been assigned one of the world's major religions to research. You will be the expert in your group on that religion. While reading information on the religion you will need to consider these questions.

  1. What is the religion's main spiritual beliefs?

  1. What symbols are used to represent the religion?
  2. What is this religions sacred text?
  3. What is the building of worship?
  4. In what regions of the world is this religion predominantly found? (you should be able to      find this area on a world map)
  5. When was the religion founded?
  6. What are some important  dates/holidays/festivals associated with this religion?
  7. What are some stories, myths or legends associated with this religion?
  8. Who are the important people associated with this religion?
  9. What are some interesting facts about this religion?
  10. How does a person reach salvation/paradise?

After your findings are complete you will meet with four other heads of committees to find the similarities and differences in the 5 Major World Religions.
