Consumers are always looking for a great deal!  You have been selected to help solve real-life consumer problems!  Enjoy helping consumers decide if the sale is worth their money!  

      

Task

First you will watch a video about two different ways to calculate the sale price.  You will understand the importance of being able to determine the purchase price of an item on sale.  Then you will view a variety of solutions, answers and explanations on how to find the sale price.  Finally you will apply your knowledge by solving a series of word problems.  You will need a computer, paper, and pencil to complete this activity.

2. Analyze sample problems.  Study their strategies, answers, and explanations.

3.  Solve the word problems using one of the strategies presented.  Show your work on a seperate piece of paper.  (You will need to turn this in to receive credit for the assignment.)

Evaluation

Compare and check your answers with a member of your group when they are finished too.  Turn your worksheet into the "class work" bin.  Make sure you show your work, include your answer, and provide a brief explanation for each problem.
