The Focus of The U.S. in WWII

Introduction

Hello Quester!

Welcome to my webquest.

In this webquest, we will be exploring the focus of the United States during the beginning years of WWII and its relation to the great depression. It is important to think historically and do your best to put yourself into the shoes of the people living in that era. In this webquest you will be investigating information from the period around the great depression and the time of WWII. You will be working to write an argumentative essay on what went on in this time.

Task

Day One:

Research and evaluate the following websites for information on the relationship between the domestic distraction of the great depression and the rise of Nazism in WWII.

http://www.theatlantic.com/national/archive/2012/03/early-warnings-how-…

http://www.history.com/topics/world-war-ii/american-response-to-the-hol…

Day Two:

Reasearch and evaluate the following websites for information on the relationship between the U.S. and the great depression versus how it responded to other countries and their problems.

http://www.history.com/topics/great-depression

http://www.english.illinois.edu/maps/depression/about.htm

Process

Day One:

Answer this question in at least one whole paragraph.

Was the U.S. very concerned with Nazism when it was rising? Did the U.S.'s domestic distractions regarding the great depression change how they reacted to Nazism?

Day Two:

Answer this question in one short paragraph.

Did the great depression severely distract the U.S. from the needs of other countries? Is it the U.S.'s responsibility to help other countries?

Evaluation

For the final actvitiy of this webquest, write and argumentative essay on where you believed the focus of the U.S. was during the very beginning of WWII at the start of Nazi ideals. Did the U.S. do anything to help before the holocaust? Why or why not?

Conclusion

What did you learn from this webquest? What do you think the U.S. was doing at the beginning of WWII? Is the U.S. the only country that was undergoing domestic distraction? If you have any questions, contact me.
