Europeans first came to Australia in 1788 and established a prison settlement because goals in England were very overcrowed. The first fleet of 11 ships took 8 months to travel from England to Australia.
Can you imagine what it would have been like to be a convict on the First Fleet (a First Fleeter)??
Task
Your task is to use the weblinks listed and linked below to find out information to describe a First Fleeter and their journey to Australia. You will use this information to create an information report. You will also include information about the ship that the convicts arrived on.

- Go to database then simple search
- Enter the convict’s name
2) Read about the convict and record answers to the questions in the information booklet you downloaded from Showbie.
You will have to decide which heading/page the information that you have found is best suited to.
Please write your answers to the questions in sentences. This will help you when writing your information report.
- When the convict was born?
- What was the convict’s occupation?
- What was the crime the convict committed?
- Where was the convict convicted?
- What was the sentence the convict was given at their conviction?
- What ship was the convict transported on to Australia?
3) Try and find a photo of your convict. You may have to have a google search of your convicts name to find one.
If you can't find a photo of your convict, find one of the ship that they came on.

- Check that your information is under the correct headings/pages
- Share your information & your chosen convict with a friend.
