renaissance art

Introduction

Travel back into the Renaissance, a time of renewal and rebirth. These tasks are going to be self paced, it is up to you to explore the world of the renaissance. This is my favorite time period. Take your time, REALLY look at the art! Imagine what it would have been like to move off of a manor to live in a big, growing city and experience these cultural things!

Task

You need to choose 3 of the activities to complete in order to build your knowledge about the Renaissance period and why it was so influencial.

Option 1- Renaissance Values:

         View   the slide show on the Renaissance Values.  Next outline   the three basic ideals by classifying them into a Tree Map.  Under each Ideals section include details, examples, and explanation

Option 2- Religion

          After analyzing several images of Renaissance church architecture and artwork design/construct your own church using at least 3 architectural elements from the era, ie: flying buttresses.

Option 3- Stories

           Read Machiavelli’s  "The Prince" Chapter 18: Fox and Lion . Imagine you could council a modern day leader using Machiavelli’s philosophy.  Complete a Dialogue Journal between you and a leader detailing how he/she can apply the philosophy in the modern world.

Option 4- Creation

           Create/design a modern day equivalent to a Renaissance invention.  This should be something revolutionary that will impact/change the culture.  Include a written explanation of the invention and how it will change society.

Option 5 Artwork-

Analyze a piece of Renaissance   artwork to determine and define where humanism is found within it.  Complete the 3, 2, 1 Summary activity ( 3 things you learned, 2 things that interested you and 1 question you still have)
