Amazing Race- The 7 Continents

Introduction

You and your teammates will embark on a journey around the world!  Just like the Amazing Race contestants you will be competing with other teams to get to each pit stop first.   You will visit all 7 continents and use clues to travel to different countries or cities.  Good luck!

Task

The first team to finish their passport book is the champion of Amazing Race- The 7 Continents.

  • You will be working in a team and competing with your classmates to visit all the continents and many countries using various clues that you are given.
  • You must do online reasearch to solve the clues and find information about countries and cities.
  • Timeforkids.com, Around the World tab is a good place to start.

By the end of this race I expect you to have knowledge of all 7 continents and information/places to visit about various countries and cities.

  • For each country or city you must create a page in your team's passport book.  You must solve all clues for the continent before receiving your next pit stop information.  There will be roadblocks along the way that the team must accomplish before moving on.
Process

1. You will begin this race in your own continent.

2. Use the Leg of the Race Clues to identify the countries in each continent that you are to visit.

  • Once you have identified the countries you can complete the passports for  those countries.
  • You must include the country name and capital.
  • You must include two pictures of places you can visit in each country and include captions to describe them.
  • Finally, include 5 interesting facts for each country.
  • When you arrive at Australia, cities will be used instead of countries.

3. When you finish the passports for each country see your teacher for the pit stop information to your next continent.

  • Whichever team arrives at the pit stop first wins a two minute head start on the next leg.
  • Whichever team arrives at the pit stop last recieves a 1 minute penalty on the next leg of the race.

4. There will be roadblocks along the way at each leg of the race.  Use teamwork to complete these challenges.  You may not move on to the next leg until you have completed the roadblock.

5. There will be 6 legs of the race and then the finish line.

6. The first team to complete their entire Passport book with all countries/cities is the winner!

7. This takes a lot of hard work and teamwork to accomplish.  Help eachother, think, and have fun!  Good luck!!!

Evaluation

Your passport book will be graded for accuracy and quality,as well as your ability to work as a team.  Do a wonderful job and have fun.

Conclusion

Congratulations you have finished the race!  You have completed your passport book and learned about many countries all over the world.  It is so important to learn about other cutures and people.  Thank you for your hard work!
