Introduction
Hello all of my second grade slueths!
I am in need of your help! Our classroom is in need of a new little friend and I need your wonderful detective skills to help me decide which kind of fish will be joining our family! As we all have learned this year there are many different fish in the sea so we have a hard decision ahead of us! I want you to pick you favorite fish and tell me why it should become the new addition to our tank of aquatic friends!!
Task
So my little detectives your job is to search the high seas, rivers, lakes, and ponds for the perfect new friend for our class! There are several things that you must remember when picking the perfect fish!
- Our other aqautic friends live in salt water
- We have a medium sized tank
- There are other types of fish in our tank
You will take these pieces of information and come up with a list of three aquatic animals that your group thinks would be a good addition to our tank and then present your findings to the class in a short powerpoint presentation!
Process
- First you must talk to your table groups and research what kinds of animals meet all of the requirements Ms. Humphrey has given you
- Next, you will choose three of those animals that your group has decided on and research those animals further, keeping in mind habitat, what kind of food will this new friend need, can you buy this friend at the pet store, and one other criteria of your choosing.
- Then, you will take all of this information and create a powerpoint to present to the class.
- Lastly, Ms. Humphrey will choose the order of groups and everyone will present!
Evaluation
Ms. Humphrey will be grading your groups on the following:
- Did you have three animals?
- Did these animals meet the criteria Ms. Humphrey chose?
- Did your presentation cover the questions presented?
- Did your group create a fourth question to answer?
- Did you learn? :)
