There are so many stories about this tragic event. Which one is true? Which one is false?

Who is Vincent Van Gogh? Where did he come from? How was he educated?

Why is he famous? Was he always famous?

How much money did he make while he was alive?

How did his mental state effect his artwork? 

Who is Paul Gauguin? and why is he important to Van Gogh?

What is Impressionism?  Why is Van Gogh the most prominent Imperssionist.

Create a time line of Van gogh`s works.

Discuss your findings with a partner.

Describe Impressionism from an Art perspective using Art vocabulary used in the class.

Create a pesentation (powerpoint,prezi, imovie or video) showing visually the answers to the questions.

SUBMITING 10% of grade

Please create a new folder with your name on in in the WebQuest folder in our Class Google drive Folder.

Post the presentataion in your folder in the folder named WebQuest.

Submit full written version of questions with their answers. Annotated all resources ( all those given and 5 student found)

Evaluation

Students will answer all questions with 3-5 sentance answers, these will be made into a presentation using powerpoint or prezi or any teacher approved presentation software.

These questions may also be answered in a video format. ( again all questions must be answered with 3-5 sentences)

Either format must include a time line of Paintings with date and statements as to Van gogh`s mental state.

There will be a presentation sign up sheet posted.

All must be posted on teacher page on ( DUE DATE)

TITLE: VAN GOGH`s EAR

  • INTRODUCTION: What is the real story about what happened to famous Artist Vincent Van Gogh`s ear? This WebQuest will be the introduction to self portraits and facial dimensions and drawing. Van Gogh did many self portraits and learning about him will be a great way to engage students. Using the mystery and graphic nature surrounding his ear or lack of ear will further engage student especially boys.

  • AIM: The aim is to have students learn about Vincent Van Gogh.they will also learn about Impressionism and how in was influenced by Van Gogh and how it influenced him.

  • RATIONALE: Van Gogh and Impressionism helped shape all Art styles to follow.

  • GENERAL GOALS: Students will know what makes an impressionistic painting impressionistic. Students will be able to identify characteristics if color and brush movements that are impressionistic. This WebQuest aligns with the schools Fine Arts curriculum. Our department teaches units on Self portraits and facial dimensions,layout and proportion.

    • Students will learn about Van Gogh and his obsession and relationship with Famous

      Artist Paul Gauguin.

  •                   Students will be given WebQuest
    • Students  will be given instructions on how to complete web quest will be introduced to Vincent Van Gogh
    • Students will research and learn about Van Gogh
    • Students will research and learn about Impressionism
    • Students will learn about Van Gogh`s works
    • Students will learn about Impressionism and Post-Impressionism
    • Students will learn about painting styles,brush strokes and color choice will research Van Gogh paintings

The WebQuest will be taught/given to students in my classroom on personal devices(BYOD).
