Introduction
"When am I ever going to use this?" It is really hard to understand when you are taking a class, when you will use the information you are taught. A lot of students think they are never going to use math; but you would be surprised. We use numbers, math problem solving, and patterns everyday.
Task
Students will create a poster or brochure how they will use math in their future.
Process
First, you will need to think about what you will be doing in the future. Your job will be to investigate what you will need to do to get the training/education in your choosen career. You may also want to consider math you will use generally in your everyday life. You will then need to investigate the career and look for ways that math will be used.
You will need to create a poster or brochure on how you will math in the future and present your findings/displays to the class. You must include you web resources.
Evaluation
You will be evaluated on the following criteria:
1. Is the display colorful and engaging,
2. Resources are listed properly,
3. Student discussed how math was used in their training/education,
4. Students discussed how math is used in their job,
5. Students discussed how math is used in their everyday life,
6. Did the student present their finding to the class,
7. Student is able to display a clear and deep understanding of their research.
Conclusion
Knowing when you are going to use math will make you understand just how important math is to your future. When you understand how concepts are used will make you see just how necessary math is so you do not need to rely on other. Just think about how difficult life would be if you were not able to go shopping without someone telling if you had enough money to buy the things that you want or properly measure out ingredients when you are cooking.
