An assistive device is something that helps someone do something that they might not be able to do well or not at all on their own. There are several different types of devices available to Deaf and hard of hearing individuals. They can be used for watching and listening to the TV, using the phone, cell phone accessories, personal amplifiers (that allow you hear better in a noisy environment) signaling systems, emergency notification devices, alarm clocks, watches and timers.

Browse through the following websites and take a look at the different products available for use by Deaf and hard of hearing individuals. Think about which products you currently use and which products you think you would benefit from. Write a 5 paragraph essay selecting 3 assistive devices you could see yourself using in the future. Explain why you think these 3 devices will be beneficial for you.
