FRENCH MENU WEBQUEST

The year is 2020.  An alien life form has overtaken the Earth.  Upon tasting all of the world's cuisine, they determined that French food is superior to all the rest.  As the aliens are now going to inhabit our planet, they are making some changes. 

The leader of the aliens, Madame Masters, has decreed that all restaurants must be French.  All chefs are being trained in French food preparation.  All waiters are being hypnotized and put into French classrooms so that they will speak perfect French.  Certain individuals, who have some knowledge of French, have been captured and forced to create new menus for all the current restaurants.  You are one of these individuals. 

It is up to you, using your expertise and the resources available, to create a menu that will meet the standards of the culturally elite aliens.

Task

The TASK

The aliens with whom you are dealing are very particular.  They expect each menu to contain certain components.  If you do not follow these requirements, you will risk displeasing the head alien, the ferocious Mme. Masters, and the consequences will be dire.  The menu created for the aliens must include the following:

  • Choose four categories to include in your menu (For example: appetizer, main dish, beverage, dessert OR breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert)
  • Each category must contain three French food items;
  • Each food item listed must have a mouthwatering description, including the main ingredients and a price(you create the price, don't just take it from another menu);
  • The menu must contain color, decoration and pictures of what the food actually looks like, or a clip art piece that would be similar (the aliens like attractive menus!);
  • The menu MUST contain the title of the restaurant (your choice) so that the newly trained chefs know what they are to prepare!);

Process

            The PROCESS       

You may choose to work with one partner or alone.  Use the following sites or any others you find to explore some French foods for your menu.  If you can't find a picture for the food you want, you may use clip art or draw the pictures, and I can scan them for you.

Conclusion

The aliens are very pleased with your enthusiasm.  They are expecting great things from you, some wonderfully delicious menu options, some beautifully decorated menus and some fantastic and mouth-watering descriptions.  Don't forget, they like uniformity as well as creativity!
