Pangaea was a supercontinent that was made up of all the continents on Earth and existed at the time of the Dinosaurs. Pangaea was created when all of the continents smashed together like a giant puzzle. The continents smashed together hard enough to form mountains and formed a giant letter C.

So, in this webquest you will be learning about the fascinating past world of Pangaea.

Task

THE CONTIENTS HAVE GONE CRAZY!!

All the continents have moved back into the Pangaea supercontinent and we need your help to put them back where they belong!!

Grab a friend and see if you two can put the Seven Continents together like a puzzle! Did I happen to mention that you could earn points for doing this project? 10 points for cutting out pieces and up to 50 points if the pieces are put together correctly.

LET"S GET STARTED!!

  • First, we need to cut out the seven continents into individual pieces.
  • Second, put them together in the form of Pangaea supercontinent.

Here comes the tricky part!!

  • Move the continent pieces where they belong (present day) don't forget to show your teacher first. Then glue them down to another sheet of paper.
  • Make a note of how they have moved and formed into what they are now (look at their distance away and positioning from each other).
  • Don't forget to label all the oceans!!

MAJOR POINTS AHEAD!!!

In the Process page you can do this alone or with a partner, the choice is yours. You will have 5 questions to answer. So grab a pencil and a piece of paper to write down your answers. Just to help you out there are a few website links to help find your answers. If you manage to finish your puzzle and answer all your questions correctly before class is over you earn 20 Points, but if you dont hurry you only get 10 points!!  After you have completed both projects you will tally up your points on the Evaluation page.
