Introduction

Subject: Science and Life.      

    The topic of this assigment is how flowers and leaves change in the fall. Durning the week this project is due we will be taking a whole week of understanding how fall works with the environment.

  In this assignment the students purpose is to be able to identify different types of plants and flowers by the end of the lesson. Students should be from grade 2 and 3.

Students shall take this assignmnet home to there parents. We will do a overall project together at the end of the week.

Task

  Students will chose to find either four flowers or four leaves. 

Students will take assignment home and describe where they found the item. and provide a short description of where we can find the item in other areas.  (example: red rose was found in my yard beside the pine tree in the shade . However roses are found throughout the eastern United States)

Must have four diiferent types of flowers or leaves.

Students must then write a short answer on a peice of paper saying weather they like assignments like this fallowing. and what do they think they benifited find the items in there own area.

When all students have turned in there work we will then creat a classroom poster descriding what flowers or trees are around our community.

Process

Step One:

  • Students will choose flowers or plants.
  • They will tell the teacher what they have choose.
  • The teacher will write down what the students catorgory was.

Step Two:

  • students will take home project.
  • students will have a paper sign by parents that the aide or teacher will put in there take home folder that descirdes the entire project.
  • if student doesnt have internet at home the parent will write a note saying they do not have internet and the teacher will take time durning plaining or recuss. 

Step Three:

  • students will look for four different types of flowers and descirde where they found the object. (ex: dandilion was found in my backyard, beside the apple tree in the shade)
  • Student will then look on the internet where that type of flower or leaf would be located. (ex: dandilions are found pretty much anywhere from the side of the road to a backyard)
  • brefeily descide how you felt looking outside and seeeing new things. What made you happy about doing it. Did you like the assignment or dislike it? If you disliked the assignment tell why. If you wish to do more assignments like this tell me why.
  • put flowers or leafs in a baggie and bring to school. (by Friday..........) 

Step Four:

  • once all items are in we will descuss with the class what we found and where w found it.
  • students will make poster of there yard and where they found the objects.
  • we will do a overall projects of the most common items found and put together a class poster. with the dieagram of our school and wherewe found our own items together.

The final project that we will be doing is a overall class poster of all the items the students found and where they are located. The class will combine all there findings in on over all assignment. The purpose of this assignmnet is to get the students out and looking for things around there own yard. Once finised they students will have a better understanding of what objects they can find if they want to. However the students will have a better understanding of the plants on life outside there doors.

Some students may have a learning disablitiy if that is the case the student will be giving a seperate assignment. And the student will still precipitate with the rest of the class. Grading scale will be different for these students.  Students should be enjoying thereselves with this assignment however some students may notlike it. Work hard with those who dont have the want to be in school. Content standers.   Function 3E: Use of Assessments in Instruction – The teacher uses both
