Life Cycles

Introduction

Hi there!

Welcome to our webquest page to explore life cycles.

You have been taught the life cycles of sea turtles, now it is your turn...

Task

Task: Choose a reptile to explore and clearly explain its life cycle.

You will need to:

Use the resources (found under the process tab) to find information about your reptile's life cycle.   Write a summary including:

-what your animal is and how you know it is a reptile

-how does the animal reproduce?

-what happens to the embryos?   In what environment do they develop?

-what happens to the animal once it is born? Who cares for the young?

-when does the animal mature / become independent?   What are the steps in this process?

-Draw a diagram to show the different stages of the life cycle

Process

Use websites to answer questions about the animal's life cycle.

The following websites may be a start:

https://seaworld.org/en/animal-info/animal-infobooks

http://animals.nationalgeographic.com.au/animals/reptiles/

I encourage you to find other sources, but be mindful of their reliability.

Ensure you use the research template to turn the information into your own words and reference each source.

Evaluation

Once you have sourced your information, type this into a word document
(in your OWN words) and ensure you have addressed all questions (using the checklist).

Reread your work and check it is correct.

Copy and paste your information on the animal's life cycle into a Voki:

http://www.voki.com/site/create

Conclusion

Think about how you will present your voki - your voki may be from the point of view of an animal, reporter or zookeeper.   It will be presented to the class.

Draw a diagram outlining the stages of the life cycle.
