"The Entertainment Capital of the World" or "The Sin City"

Introduction

A desert metropolis built on gambling, vice and other forms of entertainment, in just a century of existence Las Vegas has drawn millions of visitors and trillions of dollars in wealth to southern Nevada. 

Task

Today you are going to learn more about one of the most famous entertainment city of the world.

  • First of all you should answer few questions about the foundation and the history of this city:

1. When was Las Vegas incorparated?

2. What can you say about the birth of the city?

3. How changed the city after Siegel's murder?

4. What happened with old casinos in the 1990s?

  • Then you should say, which gallery is the most popular among the tourists. Give at least three arguments of your point of view.
  • And at the end of our Web-quest you should choose one activity of the best things to do in Las Vegas. You should make a Powerpoint Presentation, about it. In this presentation you will explain what had attracted you and why. Don't forget to add colourful photoes and some descriptions!=)

Evaluation

Each of three tasks is valued at 3 points. 

The first task:

if there are fully answers for all questions - 3 points;

if there are short and incomplete answers for all questions or complete answers but just for two/three questions - 2 points;

if all answers are incomplete or few questions remained even without answer - 1 point.

The second task: 

3 arguments - 3 points;

2 arguments - 2 points;

1 arguments - 1 point.

The third task:

If the presentation contents a lot of illustrations, the description of the activity and the explaining of the choice - 3 points;

if just two components are in the presentation - 2 points;

if only one component is shown in the presentation - 1 point.

The results: 

9 points - "5"

7-8 points - "4"

4-6 points - "3"

3 points - "2"
